Wildcats Weekly Update

September 3-6, 2019

Archie Stouffer is proud to be a Leader in Me School. This week, we celebrate what it means to be a Leader in Me School. To do this we are going to be looking at our paradigms, that is, the beliefs that we hold dear in our Archie Stouffer community.

Each week we will focus on one aspect of our leadership journey. We will do this through a focus on the 7 Habits. We hope that you will find this sharing beneficial as families, friends and community members are so important to our success at Archie.

Each Division has published their Divisional Mission Statement and they are working on classroom Mission Statements which will be displayed by our Open House and Barbecue on s

September 18th.

The Junior Division Mission Statement is…

In the Junior Division, if we align assessment and next steps messaging throughout the division (with the goal of having an integrated approach to teaching the fundamental concepts of math from entering grade 4 to grade 6), then students will develop a more effective problem-solving strategies. We plan to:

Use similar diagnostics and some collaborative marking to align our approaches and track progress

Align instructional language/approaches (using examples and sample resources from the Balanced Math Document 2019-2020) through sharing resources and expertise

Use exemplars and school displays that show fundamental problem solving and align with EQAO

Welcome to Some of Our New Wildcat Staff Members for 2019-2020!

Meg Mardus – – Junior French

Kristin Gaffney – – Primary Prep

Jason Kozlowski – – Grade 5

Shannon Blanchard – – Grade ⅞

Stephanie Henriques – – Grade ⅔

New Schedule:

We have a new schedule. Our first block has 108 minutes and our next two blocks have 96 minutes each. The bell rings each day at 8:35 and students will enter and begin activities at 8:40 am. Families arriving at the school and wishing to walk to their child’s classroom are asked to enter at the main entrance and sign in at the Office. A reminder that it is always a good idea to make an appointment with your child’s teacher should you wish to meet with them as they are responsible for all of the students in their classrooms at this time. We love to have communication with our families and want to make time for your that honours the conversation.

CHALLENGE of the WEEK: Try to remember all of the names of your classmates and share them with your family.

September 9th is our First Leadership Assembly of the Year 9 AM in the gym. It’s time to greet our new Wildcats and learn some more about our community.
